Volunteer Opportunities

During each calendar year, over 160 volunteers donate 20,000+ hours of service to Wayne Memorial Hospital's customers.  There are over 30 areas where volunteers serve, sharing their time and making a difference in their community.  Sometimes volunteers provide directions or information.  Sometimes they serve as a liaison between families and staff.  They always offer customers a smile and compassion.  In addition, our volunteers act as clerical support to staff by copying, labeling, shredding, filing and answering telephones. 

Volunteer schedules are very flexible, ranging from one shift (four hours) per month or up to twenty hours per week.  Listed below are some of our assignment areas.

ADULT PROGRAM VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS
At least 18 years of age
High school diploma or equivalent
Annual performance evaluation
Annual Re-orientation
Annual TB skin test
Outstanding customer service skills
Regular attendance
Comprehension and demonstration of confidentiality
Attendance at departmental meetings or educational sessions
 

VOLUNTEER APPLICATION PROCESS (approximately six weeks)
Completion of application
References
Acceptable criminal background and employment check
Interview to determine placement
TB skin test and immunization review
Orientation (3 hours)
Departmental training
